The Official 10,000 Steps%AE @ School Program

Active kids are healthy kids which is why Vitality Works' innovative Official 10,000 Steps® @ School Program has been designed to increase children's physical activity levels in a fun and educational way.

The Official 10,000 Steps® @ School Program is a team walking challenge, designed especially for New Zealand schools. The challenge is to complete 10,000 Steps each day and participants wear pedometers to measure their daily steps. Participants also compete in the challenge as part of a team. The team's goal is to collect enough step counts over the challenge to plot their steps around the circumference of a country map. The fastest team to complete the circuit is awarded a prize. The duration of the challenge depends on the step counts of the participants, and can take up to 10 weeks complete.

To begin the challenge, check your school calendar for an appropriate time and contact us!

What our clients say
Amberley School have used the 10,000 steps programme for pupils and staff as a term event each year. Principal Roger Hornblow said, "Having a class set of pedometers has meant that the children are challenging each other by comparing numbers of steps. They really enjoyed the fun element and seeing the information like how many steps and how far you walk in a day. The beginning of each day was always a buzz of comparing pedometers and asking what exercise had happened to get the scores. The success of the programme was awesome. The motivation all came from children inspiring children with the pedometer - the motivation needed from our teachers was minimal. We have the 10,000 steps as a fitness focus near the end of year.
The initial cost is worth it for schools as the motivation and enthusiasm the programme engenders is great. It really does encourage and motivate children to get active"
